Our Trip to the Aquarium of the Pacific!

The Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach was a great field trip for both Mrs. Barrios' and Mrs. Girardi's classes.  After studying the Coral Reefs, it was wonderful to wander through the Tropical Ocean section where we saw many different types of coral, exotic fish like the Parrotfish, and alien-looking creatures like the Seadragon.  This aquarium would make a great day trip during our Christmas vacation!  To learn more about this Aquarium, go to http://www.aquariumofpacific.org/

BIGRAY.jpg:

This large ray was just one of the many animals students were allowed to touch.  The smaller sharks around the Ray were a little more difficult to touch because they swam a little faster.  The students were fascinated by the different textures each of these animals have.

TUEWINDOW.jpg:

Though difficult to photograph because of the glare, students were enthralled watching skin divers come into their line of vision with food for the sea creatures in that particular area.  These divers were equipped with microphones that allowed us to hear a description of the animals and some of their more interesting characteristics.  We were also allowed to ask questions of the diver.
