The Circus

Artist’s Name:

Georges Seurat

Date and  Place of  Birth :

Georges Seurat was born in Paris in 1859.

Artist’s  style or technique:

scientific experimentation, breaking new ground with his tiny points of colour with every stroke. stiff, formal, and stylised, the work literally shimmered with light.

Who influenced   him?

influenced by the Impressionists, he lacked their spontaneous temperament.

What I think about his art? Georges’ art  is great!! The Circus is very light like there’s  20 lights that are working .Suerat ‘s  art “The  Circus “ , is amazing. I like the shadows for the paintings.

Coral Reef  Review

Cooper Adamo, One-Day G.A.T.E.

BAD GUYS OF THE CORAL REEFS

Crown-of-Thorns Sea Star:
This creature damages the coral by eating it, causing it to die. For
example, in the late 1970s, there was a very large outbreak of
Crown-of-Thorns starfish that attacked the coral reef of Fagatele bay, Samoa.  They destroyed 90 percent of the reef.

Natural Disasters:
One of the natural disasters are hurricanes. People who think hurricanes hurt coral reef say this because sponges and sea fans get torn off the reef. Hurricane waves can break apart the coral, leaving
sediments in the water. This blocks out the sun, which means no energy for the coral to grow.

Coral reefs are also vulnerable to disease outbreaks. One disease is white band disease. Other common diseases are black plague and yellow-blotch disease. When these diseases happen, coral gets weaker, the skeleton gets exposed, and the living coral tissues die.

Let’s Work Together!
How The Coral Reef Ecosystem is Interdependent

The Coral Reef ecosystem is an environment of organisms that all work together to live. It is also considered one of the most delicate ecosystems in the world. Coral reefs depend on different animals, algae, organisms and environmental conditions just to survive.  When all of these elements work together, they are all interdependent, which means everything needs each other to thrive.

Zooxanthellae — microscopic algae — conducts photosynthesis for
the polyps in the coral reefs so that they can use that energy gathered
from sunlight to stay alive. Coral polyps are a tiny animal that is
able to filter small rock pieces
in the water and other single-cell
plants that can be living within the polyps. These plants give off the
nutrients that the corals need. They also gather the calcium from the
ocean and that is what the polyps use to make their limestone shells.
Sponges also play an important part of the coral reef ecosystem.  They can make a shelter for shrimp, fish and crabs. Sponges do this because they have porous holes for these sea creatures to hide in. You will see sponges along a coral reef in different colors and shapes.

Reef Food Webs and Habitats

Sea anemones are another creature that helps with the coral reef’s
ecosystem. They are closely related to coral. Like sponges, sea
anemones offer protection to other sea creatures, especially the
clownfish and anemone fishes. The tentacle of the anemone holds the
eggs of the clownfish to protect them, and in return, the clownfish
protects the sea anemone. This is another example of the coral reef
ecosystem working together.
They are predators and prey for other animals. If they dieor eat other fish, they leave food scraps for other animals within the coral reef to eat. Parrotfish live in the coral reef and use their verysharp teeth to bite on the coral skeleton to get to the algae and make sand.  Just one parrotfish can make as much as five tons of sand in one year! Coral sands play a large part in the buildup of a coral reef.  These are just some of the facts that all work together for a coral reef ecosystem. Everything in the coral reef must depend on each
other because the reef is so sensitive. When one part is not working
together, the reef will be in danger of dying.
