Huntington Botanical Gardens
G.A.T.E. students are allowed to participate in one out-of-town field trip per year. With our Universal Theme of "Relationships" and our Fall focus on Botany, we decided to travel to the Los Angeles area where students spent the day at the beautiful Huntington Botanical Gardens in San Marino, studying different ecosystems in the various gardens. There were too many gardens for us to see them all! For our "scavenger hunt" everyone had to visit the Desert, Jungle and Pond gardens. The Conservatory was also a must. Students got to experience many "hands-on" activities, including dissecting an orchid! Optional gardens to visit included the Japanese, Chinese, Australian, Shakespeare, Palm, Rose, Camelia, and Children's Garden!
