Dear Parents,
Welcome to our class! The kindergarten year is very special for your child. We are a big family in Room K-1; we work and play with the cooperation of the children and you, the parents. During the first weeks of class, your child will learn to say his first name, read it, and write it. I would like all of the children to be able to tie their own shoes. We are going to study colors, shapes, numbers, literature and the alphabet in English. We study in English every day; I speak in Spanish when it is necessary.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing is that we are going to listen well and follow the rules. Each day your child will bring a GOOD BEHAVIOR TICKET home, if he behaves well. Keep them in the envelope labeled 20 Tickets. When there are 20 tickets, you child can turn them in and choose a prize from the treasure box. The rules for our class are very important:
1. Do what teachers say.
2. Be friendly.
3. Be careful when you play.
I invite you to visit and help in our class. I will need help with the preparation of papers and little books; daily, I need a volunteer for 30 minutes to run our class take home library system. If you want to prepare materials for our class in your own home, please advise me. I am sure that together we will have a special year with much success and friendship.

Estimados Padres,
¡Bienvenidos a nuestra clase! El año de kinder es muy especial para su niño. Somos una familia grande en salón K-1; trabajamos y jugamos con la cooperación de los niños y de ustedes, los padres. Durante las primeras semanas de clase, su niño aprenderá decir su primer nombre, leerlo, y escribirlo. Quiero que todos puedan amarrar los zapatos. Aprendemos en inglés los colores, las formas, los números, la literatura y el alfabeto. Estudiamos en inglés todos los días; hablo en español cuando es necesario.
La cosa MÁS IMPORTANTE es escuchar bien y seguir las reglas. Cada día su niño llevará a la casa un BOLETO DE BUEN COMPORTAMIENTO (GOOD BEHAVIOR TICKET), si se porta bien. Guárdenlos en el sobre con las palabras escritas, 20 Tickets. Cuando hay 20 boletos, su niño puede entregarlos para escoger un premio de la caja de tesoros. Las reglas de nuestra clase son muy importantes:
1. Hagan lo que dicen las maestras.
2. Sean amables.
3. Tengan cuidado cuando están jugando.
Les invitamos a ustedes que visiten y ayuden en la clase. Necesitaré ayuda con la preparación de papeles y libritos; y diariamente necesito un voluntario por 30 minutos para prestarles libros. Si quieren preparar tareas para la clase en su casa, avísenme por favor. Estoy segura de que juntos tendremos un año especial con mucho éxito y amistad.
